October’s here! Summer has faded to fall, which will fade to winter. While that might sound depressing, at least there are awesome things like snowboarding, hot coffee on a snowy day, and this wallpaper. Enjoy!

Today we’re going to divert from our regularly scheduled (that’s a joke) writing to inform those of you who are local to Edmonton, AB about Wordcamp Edmonton. Taking place on November 18 & 19, 2011, Wordcamp Edmonton is the place to be if you’re a WordPress user, designer, developer, or even just someone who wants to learn more about publishing and the web in general.

Wordcamp Edmonton - WordPressWe write a lot about WordPress on the ol’ Paper Leaf blog, since it’s our publishing platform of choice. We’re actually involved in the organization of this, Edmonton’s inaugural gathering of WordPress-ians (we are Edmontonians ourselves, after all). Hit the jump to learn more about what a Wordcamp is, who it’s for, and why you should be there (plus, tickets are only $40!).

Found Friday Vol 68

September 23, 2011

We’re on volume 68 of Found Fridays, and this week we have something for everyone: designer, developer or small business manager. This week’s finds include: 10 free online storage solutions; a useful way to approach kerning; a bunch of useful online file conversions services; a little tool that makes Internet Explorer 6-9 more compatible with certain CSS3 selectors; and a great little read on common IE bugs and how to fix them. Read on!

Top 10 Free Online Storage Apps

Online storage (or “cloud” storage, as the cool kids say) is the new black. Access your files from anywhere with a connection, and your files are safe in the cloud in the event of a hard-drive failure (which just happened to us, but I digress). Here are ten solutions for you.

Found Friday Vol 67

September 16, 2011

Another instalment of Found Fridays, another collection bursting at the seams with awesomeness. The overwhelming amount of awesomeness may be due to the fact that it’s my birthday today. Right guys? Guys? Anyway, this week we have: a little online tool for testing out your CSS code; a project to brand every lake in Minnesota, one per day; an awesome little tool for organizing beer in your fridge; a great article on how to be excellent at anything; and a must-read article for UI designers.

CSSDesk

Sometimes you’re entirely sure what your CSS code is going to render like, and it can be a pain to save/refresh/view the result in the browser. CSSDesk lets you tweak and view live, in the browser. Handy.

Branding 10,000 Lakes

A project to brand one Minnesota lake per day. Apparently it’ll take 27 years. Cool (if a little ambitious) idea, and good work posted thus far.
