Client: The Bell Glossy Media: Identity, Web Design & Development
The Bell Glossy is a startup online fashion magazine who required an identity as well as web design services.
Identity: The client requested a more modern take on the classic high-fashion wordmark-style logo. To do this, we chose a typeface – Din Condensed – that has elements of both modern & traditional “high-fashion” design: high cap-height and condensed letterforms, but also letterforms that are low-contrast and sans-serif. Using two weights and a stark black/white palette brought this identity to the finishing line.
Web: The website is a custom design and runs off of WordPress. We use some fancy jQuery trickery to bring in a “sticky header” once the user has scrolled past the large logo. This allows the navigation to always be available to the user with no scrolling – a benefit when you’re talking about longer-form articles. We also implemented a “Shop This” area, related posts, and integration with Twitter to encourage user sharing.
